The First Ethics Committee appointed by the Mayor and Chairman of the Board of Commissioners all appeared to be happy to end their one—year term. In October of 2008 activities by this group came to a halt with the passing to the District Attorney General , James B. Dunn , FOUR Complaints . Those in attendance witnessed and finally heard what had been anticipated. The ethics complaints that had been filed apparently had been sleeping with no action and where gathered up in one fell swoop. At the recommendation of the County Attorney they passed them on to the District Attorney . As if they believed there were possibly suspected criminal charges to be considered and by doing so they wiped their hands clean, so to speak ! While the details have NOT surfaced as to guidelines , accessibility and method of operation of the one-man operation replacing committee (by recommendations, again of the Mayor / Chairman ) - each retired to their political nesting places while the public await learning if there will be process by which complaints may be reviewed and dealt with ,or, if the entire process has been put to sleep . Where is Mr. Tyler Huskey? Is he a citizen of the county ? An actively practicing attorney ? Where does he hang his hat and call home ? Does anyone know ? All we do know about him is that he is ‘to be paid the same amount of compensation for his time on behalf of the County, it’s citizens & taxpayers also for the “service” he renders to the Mayor/ Chairman, as the County Attorney, Jerry McCarter. Will the County Attorney sit as “advisor” to the one– man Ethics Committee as he “advised” the former Ethics Committee ? Does this mean the county is paying TWO attorneys to process the Ethics Complaints? When there is no information available to follow regarding the process to file Ethical complaints does this mean the county is not going to follow State regulations? Or just let these issues fade away ? |
